The challenge with this project was significant: take a single-family stone row house and reimagine it as a legal duplex while respecting the architectural heritage of the structure. This required careful planning, structural expertise, and a vision for how two complete homes could function within the existing footprint.
Complete Gut Renovation
The scope of this renovation left nothing untouched. The entire interior was stripped back to the original stone walls, allowing us to address structural requirements, update mechanical systems, and reconfigure the layout for duplex living. Every element was rebuilt from the ground up—new electrical, plumbing, HVAC, insulation, and framing created a modern infrastructure behind the historic exterior.The second floor received particular attention, requiring complete reconstruction to accommodate the duplex configuration. This level of intervention allowed us to optimize ceiling heights, improve natural light penetration, and create functional floor plans for both units.
